Jihadist terrorism threats our daily life, and it has already become the most transversal and bloody threat against international peace and security. Its expansion does not know about limits and there is no armored place to hide of such unreasonable extremism. However the incidence of such terrorist attacks is much higher outside the Western boundaries, determined to preserve the security of its citizens as well as leading to a tremendous and complex challenge that involves the extirpation of this mortal cancer. Therefore, as professor Javier Jordan points out, most of the victims of jihadism are Muslims - in November 2014, this dramatic percentage already reached the 100%-, and the risk of attacks happening in Western territory even being a fact, it is negligible compared to the risk that suffers Middle East, North Africa and Sahel.

There is no doubt that these parameters -effect and proximity- determine different social perceptions about jihadist violence, its real perception and the efforts that our society demands. Maybe in the Western world we would have fomented, with an excessive and pernicious strength that the solution will come along given by an amalgam of repressive actions, normally framed in a security scope. Nevertheless even being of vital importance these measures, in isolation they will never bring to an end the deep causes of the alarming capitation capacity of the Islamic extremists, that are increasing in number far away from their home, and that nowadays are reaching the entire Europe.

Only from a more profound and ambitious point of view the defeat of jihadist will start to be a reality. In order to achieve this, it is required a wide international consensus and compromise, even though that the higher responsibility and leadership will always be in the state's hands as well as in the regions suffering on its own territories the expansion and terrorist barbarities. Behind their extremist ideology, which is always dangerous to underestimate, jihadists also hide other many spurious intentions. For example, among others, an excessive lust of power and leadership or the pretension of gathering the dividends that report the organized crime. In this way, ideology, dominance, and benefice lay under the complex entanglement of jihadist and any strategy to face it should gravitate over the state's capacity and strength to support liberty, security and its population development.

In other words, it is imperative to deeply investigate in order to eliminate the reasons that instigate the jihadist recruitment. Just by tackling the roots it is possible to glimpse the solution and this one begins by diagnosing the causes -whether religious or not- that push the individuals to take part or support the violence, fooled by the "benefits" that jihadism could bring to their lives. In the long term any action would not be oriented until, on the one hand, the inequality, poverty and social frustration that compose the perfect substratum for the jihadist foul uptake disappear; and on the other hand, no avoidance and condemnation -including in and out the Muslim world- the radical and violent interpretation of the Islamic confession, that has nothing to do with the totality of Muslims.

In addition, it must be addressed the illegal funding of the jihadist groups that have found within the organized crime their cardinal and miserable source of income. Nowadays jihadism and criminality are part of a diffused and complex threat that destroys the bases of any state, with a higher impact where the structures are weaker. For the extremist tyranny, any practice from drug dealing to the treatment of human beings is lawful and that includes their economic strength to deploy a perverse social action and attract followers in places where the misery and the despair are the only traveling companion.

In the achievement of these objectives, to grant the security is conditioned. Nothing will be achieved if the jihadists are still able to kidnap the will and the freedom of the people, in the name of violence or terror. In many countries affected by such threats, the military and police forces are inefficient, not well distributed, not well trained and with a lack of equipment. Or what it is even worst, unreliable and incapable to repress. Consequently, it is necessary that all governments stay aware of the importance of reforming the security sector, as well as reviewing several strategies that until now have been failing on ceasing the uprising of jihadism within their boundaries.

Given the magnitude of the challenges it is essential that the international cooperation endures and underline that the society needs to understand and take into account the importance of the extremist Islamism, along with the necessary measures to eradicate it. To finally reach this, it would be also convenient the contextualization of information by the mass media in order to avoid a simplification of the threat extremely diffused and complex. Jihadist terrorism does not only leave an indelible trail of death and destruction, but also is directly undermining the future of all mankind.
