The latest update of Apple Maps has confirmed Morocco's sovereignty over the territory of Western Sahara, and now anyone looking for it can find an updated map in which the border line separating the two regions is no longer there. This update is a further important step in the recognition by other companies and countries of Moroccan sovereignty in the Sahara.

In addition to the apple company, other international organisations, media and other brands have published the new map of the world on which Morocco is located in its entirety. Examples include the Arab League, which has started recommending that subscribing members adopt the map of the Kingdom in full, and the Confederation of African Football, which has also switched to using the updated cartogramme. The British television channel BBC has also revamped the map on its website showing the support given from the UK.

Morocco thus receives good news in the recognition process that the nation has been waiting for years. Until 2020, no country officially recognised the Kingdom's sovereignty over the territory, but through the efforts of former US President Donald Trump, in an attempt to establish connections between Arab countries and the State of Israel, the situation has changed. Since then, diplomatic relations between different countries have begun to change. In favour of Morocco's acceptance of this truce, the US has accepted Moroccan sovereignty and has become the first nation to do so officially.

As of this moment, several countries have already joined the list of those who recognise the Sahara as part of Morocco. Ahmed Moussa, Moroccan consul in the Canary Islands, was interviewed by the online newspaper Rue20 on the subject. "It is not only the United States that supports it. There are already 50 countries that have recognised the sovereignty of Morocco and 24 countries already have consulates in Laayoune and Dakhla and it is a tacit recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. Therefore, the decision of the US, like the other 50 countries, brings closer to a realistic solution for the Sahara within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, which is the projection of an autonomy in the future where there will be a regional government, as well as a parliament, where the Saharawis will settle their affairs in an advanced autonomy", the consul stated.

Moroccan sovereignty, according to several experts, can bring many benefits to the Sahara area. The European Commission claims that tariffs on agricultural and fishery products exported from the territory are having great benefits for the region as well as its inhabitants, and Brussels argues that an export agreement with Morocco could have good consequences.

The new Apple Maps update offers much more detail of the world, plus the new maps are in 3D. The iOS re-fresh is available to brand users on Apple Carplay. The app gives drivers a preview of what's on the road, following a survey of users who have been able to choose what they want most in the app.

Apple has also added a night mode in which buildings and lights are now visible to vehicle drivers. Also, as a new feature, the company has added the option to share the location of the vehicle which is using the app, and the voice assistant 'Siri' can be used to send the user's position, as well as the route they are going to take to reach their destination.
