British Airways has begun testing a 'digital passport' on flights to India, whereby the airline's customers can upload their negative COVID-19 test results and other required documentation directly through its website.

Once uploaded, the airline will verify that the documentation matches the entry requirements and allow customers to check in online for their flight 24 hours before travel, avoiding queues at the airport.

Digital health passport

Alongside this initiative is the digital health travel passport, VeriFLY, which is currently available on the airline's flights from the UK to the US and Canada, as well as all inbound flights to the UK.

The app checks that customers meet the entry requirements of their destination by providing digital verification of health documents and confirming their eligibility.
