Pinchas Goldschmidt, Chief Rabbi of Moscow, is chairing the Congress of Young Rabbis of Europe being held in Barcelona from 1 to 4 December, organised by the Comunidad Israelita de Barcelona (CIB) with the support of the Federación de Comunidades Judías de España (FCJE).

Goldschmidt, who in June left Russia with his wife due to pressure from the authorities to support Russia's invasion of Ukraine, is also the president of the Conference of European Rabbis, which meets twice a year to analyse the situation of Jewish communities in European countries.

On this occasion, the Conference of European Rabbis has developed the "Empowering European Rabbis" programme for young rabbis, which will be held these days in Barcelona.

For the Chief Rabbi of the centenary Comunidad Israelita de Barcelona (CIB), Daniel Askenazi, organiser of the Congress: "We seek to meet and that our young European rabbinical leaders can acquire tools to face the challenges that arise in these difficult times that we live in for our communities in Europe. The model of proximity developed in Catalonia by the departament d'Afers Religiossos de la Generalitat de Catalunya has allowed us to build a better society, strengthening our Judaism through interreligious dialogue".
