China's pavilion for the Dubai World Expo 2020 will be one of the largest to be present at the global event organised by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

With a total area of 4,636 square metres, the Chinese pavilion will be one of the most attractive attractions at Expo Dubai 2020. China's representative infrastructure symbolises hope and a bright future and is designed according to the following principle: a combination of Chinese and Western culture with the former as the main core, as noted on the official Dubai World Expo website.

The lantern-shaped pavilion began to be built in late 2019 and will bring to life more than 5,000 years of Chinese culture, including milestones such as the discovery of paper, gunpowder and the compass, during the official celebration of the World Expo.

The Chinese pavilion has latched on to the slogans 'A symbol of hope and a bright future' and 'Building a community with a shared future for humanity: innovation and opportunity', very much in line with the guiding principle of Expo Dubai 2020 summarised in the phrase 'Connecting minds, building the future', as a statement of intent for a world's fair that is primarily about finding solutions together to address current problems, mainly by making use of the latest technological and scientific advances available.

The architectural firm in charge of the Chinese pavilion is the Construction Engineering Design Group Corporation Limited. This group is a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. and has thousands of professionals in architectural design, urban planning, project prospecting, etc. This entity has carried out a large number of designs and works in China and various parts of the world.

The opening hours for the installation are between 10:00 and 22:00 hours and it is located in the so-called Opportunity district, one of the three that make up the framework of Expo Dubai, along with those of Sustainability and Mobility. These are the three fundamental principles around which the World Expo revolves.

The infrastructure includes exhibitions related to architecture, cultural themes, a space to enjoy food and drink and the typical Chinese gastronomic offer, a gift and souvenir shop linked to the Asian country and, as it could not be otherwise in a World Expo so linked to the innovative aspect, an area linked to technological advances, as stated on the official website of Expo Dubai 2020.

The aim is to create a community with a common future for humanity, in line with the theme of Expo Dubai 2020, where the stated goal is to encourage the whole planet to work together to improve the future of humanity.

The pavilion will seek to showcase China's vast history and profound culture through the artistic integration of Chinese elements with modern technologies.

Expo2020-Welcome-The-Future

The China Pavilion will highlight China's scientific and technological achievements in the fields of information, science and technology and intelligent transport and travel with autonomous vehicles; including 5G technology, artificial intelligence and the New Silk Road initiative, which aims to maximise international trade.

China's presence at the Emirati event was inevitable given its weight on the international stage, yet it is the world's second-largest economy. China has a long history of cooperation with the host country, and is one of the UAE's most important trading partners. The two nations even sealed a Comprehensive Strategic Agreement during President Xi Jinping's visit in 2018, outlining a plan to increase the value of trade to $100 billion by 2020 and $200 billion by 2030, plans that were somewhat disrupted by the latest global coronavirus pandemic and the economic slowdown in 2020, a health crisis that also led to the postponement of the World Expo to be held in the Gulf country.

Dubai World Expo 2020 will be the first World Expo to be held in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa and South Asia) region in the UAE and will run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 after it was postponed from last year due to the global impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This global conclave will bring together more than 200 countries to explore new ideas, form new connections and collectively address some of the biggest global challenges, in keeping with the Expo Dubai 2020 theme of 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future', all aimed at fostering worldwide cooperation to address and solve global challenges by promoting the development of the most innovative technologies. Everything will revolve around the three main pillars of the world's fair: Sustainability, Opportunity and Mobility.

Although the official start of the fair is scheduled for October, visits to certain thematic facilities have already been scheduled in advance so that visitors can begin to enjoy the Expo Dubai network under the protection measures required for the COVID-19 pandemic.
