The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has issued a statement to close 2021, highlighting its achievements, both globally and domestically, as well as highlighting the work of the UAE as a vision of leadership, development and sustainability

Since 30 years ago, when the company opened its doors and began to dedicate itself to the realisation of projects, this office has not ceased to amaze with its efficiency and commitment. Among these is the Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum Solar Park, one of the largest solar parks in the world, which reaches 1,013 MW - megawatts - thanks to the use of solar panels.

Another of its milestones is the Space-D Programme, which aims to improve operational efficiency and promote preventive maintenance of electricity and water networks. This programme contributes to the improvement of hydroelectric systems, and thanks to Emirati-branded satellite communications, the company is able to manage quality supplies to citizens.

Another achievement over the years is Green Hydrogen, a programme to produce hydrogen using solar energy. It is the first of its kind in the world and has pioneered its partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai. In addition, it also has development projects in Hatta that serve to generate electricity using stored water. Notably, the Hatta Hydropower Plant is the first of its kind in the Gulf countries and can store 1,500 megawatts per hour.

The firm also has power plants and desalination complexes such as Jebel Ali, which provides water and electricity to Dubai, and is also the world's largest natural gas-fired power generation facility according to Guinness World Records.

The Emirati company's success is unprecedented. The brand has several initiatives to develop different systems. In addition, it has collaborated with several world-class partners such as Expo 2020 Dubai, where the company has become an official partner and even has its own pavilion. It has also contributed to various trade fairs and global summits such as WETEX - Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition, the Dubai Solar Show or even the World Green Economy Summit, where it has been praised for its contributions and ideas brought to the world.

It is one of the largest companies in the Gulf country, with assets of more than 200,000 Emirati dirhams and investments that raise more than 86,000 dirhams. The firm in turn seeks to make Dubai one of the best cities in the world, highlighting its commitment to new and essential technologies. Since its creation on 1 January 1992, the company has managed in recent years to become one of the most distinguished companies in the world, with 348 awards and projects with the aim of modernising Dubai and making it the smartest and happiest city in the world.

The brand has also emphasised that it is a company committed to the environment and environmentalism. As such, it states that its strategies and projects are based on meeting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2025 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050, which would achieve 100 per cent energy production based on clean and safe sources.

"As part of its vision to become a leading global sustainable innovative corporation, DEA strives to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 by promoting sustainability with its social, economic and environmental aspects," said Saaed Mohamed al-Tayer, CEO of DEWA.
