The Economic Society of Friends of the Country hosts the Constitution of the Hispano-Philippine Cultural Association of Malaga

The Spanish-Philippine Cultural Association of Malaga was constituted in the Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Malaga, being founding members, Antonio J. Quesada Sánchez, David Cuevas Góngora, Jorge Villalobos Portalés, Jorge Chauca García, Francisco Ruiz Noguera, José Antonio Sierra Lumbreras (Secretary) and José Manuel de Torres Perea (President).

The aims of the association are the promotion of cultural, educational, artistic, tourist, sports, and commercial relations of the city and province of Malaga, as well as Andalusia, with the Philippines; the contribution to the development of Malaga's relations with the Filipino communities in Spain; the dissemination of the legacy of Professor Ruben Balane for being the greatest promoter of the recovery of academic ties between the Philippine and Spanish Universities, especially in the field of Law, and the collaboration with Philippine and Malaga institutions, as well as with the University of Malaga.

The following have been established as priority activities of the association: 

Promote knowledge of the languages and cultures of the Philippines. To organise congresses, meetings, seminars, conferences and any other cultural, educational or scientific activity. To promote educational and cultural exchanges. To develop academic programmes concerning Philippine culture. To establish channels to disseminate the current state of knowledge of Social and Human Sciences, Literature and Art in the Philippines. To contribute to Philippine integration through the dissemination of its scientific and artistic creations in Malaga and Andalusia. To cooperate with Filipino associations and institutes in Spain and other countries. To manage the creation of grants to facilitate research work on Malaga's relations with the Philippines. To promote film exchanges between Malaga and the Philippines. Cooperate to disseminate the works of Malaga and Andalusian writers in the Philippines. To disseminate Malaga's cultural offerings in the Philippines. Encourage the exchange of digital information. To organise activities that contribute to the social, educational, cultural and labour integration of Filipino residents in the city and province of Malaga. Promote the creation of the Philippine Cultural Institute of Malaga. To organise activities in memory of Professor Rubén Balane.
