Emirates and Amadeus reach distribution agreement again

The airline and travel agency have once again signed an agreement to improve the terms of access to all content, without any additional charges, for the travel community

UAE-based airline Emirates, a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, has entered into a new agreement with travel industry IT solutions provider Amadeus IT Group, better known as Amadeus, to extend its long-standing partnership to offer better terms to the travel community.

In today's environment, and particularly as the industry rebuilds after the pandemic, everyone in the travel chain will benefit from flexible collaboration models, multiple means of accessing dynamic and rich content, and the ability to offer differentiated products and services," said Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates.

"This renewal is another important milestone in our distribution strategy and our ongoing retail journey. With this new agreement with Emirates, we enter 2022 building on the momentum we have built over the years to support modern retailing and further demonstrating our commitment to continue to deliver more travel content globally and at scale through the Amadeus Travel Platform," added Decius Valmorbida, President of Amadeus Travel.

Amadeus Trading Partners will be able to take advantage of this new agreement from 1 February 2022. Emirates will provide Amadeus travel agents with access to all of the airline's content at no extra charge and the future integration of Emirates' NDC (New Distribution Capability) content into the Amadeus Travel Platform, which will be rolled out to travel agents throughout 2022. It will also offer greater flexibility, choice and performance capabilities in the future.

NDC content has developed Emirates Gateway, which is available on the Emirates Partners portal, launched almost two years ago. This means improved access to all of the airline's products and services, as well as an intuitive and user-friendly interface. The Emirates Gateway offers all of the airline's business partners the ability to enhance and access personalised products and services for travellers. To this end, they have three flexible gateways: Emirates Booking Portal, where bookings can be made in all 12 available languages, as well as simplification in Emirates' booking, ticketing and post-ticketing service; Emirates Gateway Direct, where all access to NDC content is provided; and Emirates Gateway Sync, where a link to Emirates' reservation system is provided. 

"The Emirates Gateway suite of connectivity options has been built on new technology and is designed to address the limitations of current legacy distribution systems.

Our goal was to create a platform that would allow us to rapidly develop and deploy new products and services, giving us and our business partners the ability to offer even more valuable and differentiated services. It also paves the way for Emirates to offer personalised content and dynamic pricing that is more responsive to our changing marketplace," said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer.

With this new agreement, Emirates aims to offer its partners better connectivity options, products and benefits across all channels, including on its own NDC-enabled direct connectivity platform, Emirates Gateway. In doing so, the airline is setting a milestone in offering travel agents greater flexibility.
