The UAE and Qatar continue on the path of understanding. This was evidenced by the recent visit of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, Emirati national security adviser, to Doha, where he met with Emir Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the meeting, the two stressed the "fraternal relations" between the two countries and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation for the progress and development of the "two brotherly peoples" with the aim of achieving common interests and improving the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), according to the Emirati news agency WAM.

At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed conveyed the greetings of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahayan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. According to Bin Zayed, the Emirati leaders wished health, happiness and further progress and prosperity for Qatar and its people. The Qatari emir, for his part, also sent warm greetings to the Emirati leaders.

Bin Zayed last travelled to Qatar in August 2021. This reunion was the first meeting between Abu Dhabi and Doha after the signing of the Al-Ula agreement, a declaration that ended a nearly four-year blockade of Qatar by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt. The Emirati national security adviser's visit to Doha cemented the new phase in Emirati-Qatari relations. During his trip, Bin Zayed agreed with Al Thani to further develop the bilateral partnership, especially in the economic and commercial fields.
