The United Arab Emirates (UAE) sent an aid convoy with 10 tonnes of food rations to the Ad Durayhimi district in Yemen's Hodeida governorate as part of its ongoing food aid campaign in Yemen, A country plagued by a bloody civil war that has been raging since 2015 when Hutu rebels rose up against the internationally recognized government of Abd Rabbuh Mansur al-Hadi, which currently receives military support from the Saudi Arabian-led Arab coalition, which includes countries such as the United Arab Emirates.

The assistance, which included food baskets containing basic foodstuffs such as rice, flour and cooking oil, reached 3,600 people in the remote villages of Al-Mabraq, Yahter and Al-Katef.

The distribution follows a survey to identify the poorest families along the west coast of the country, starting from Bab al-Mandab in Taiz and reaching liberated areas in the northern city of Hodeida.

So far this week, the UAE has already distributed 2,300 containers of food, benefiting 21,300 people in Yemen, as the WAM news agency recalls.

The UAE is thus continuing its great humanitarian cooperation work, which is proving invaluable in this current difficult phase marked by the COVID-19 health crisis, which has already left more than 609,000 deaths and more than 14.6 cases diagnosed worldwide. The Gulf nation has provided aid to more than 70 countries in the international concert with medical equipment and coronavirus testing, as well as food products, in order to help different nations in this difficult stage. A material that has already helped more than a million medical professionals around the planet.

La distribución sigue una encuesta para identificar a las familias más pobres a lo largo de la costa oeste del país, comenzando desde Bab al-Mandab en Taiz y llegando a áreas liberadas en la ciudad de Hodeida, al norte

The Emirates is channelling aid to Yemen through the Red Crescent, increasing and sustaining assistance to the Middle Eastern country, which is suffering what the United Nations has called the world's biggest humanitarian crisis.

The Arab nation offers its international collaboration without any discrimination on political, racial or religious grounds. In fact, it has already assisted the Islamic Republic of Iran, a major rival in the Middle East region, on as many as four occasions. The list of aid and cooperation of the UAE includes all kinds of countries (from great powers to more modest nations) such as the United Kingdom, China, the United States, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Peru or Uruguay, among others.
