Emirates hosts the largest online exhibition in the oil and gas industry

The largest online exhibition and conference in the oil and gas industry will be hosted by Abu Dhabi at the ADIPEC Virtual Conference. This meeting brings together over 5,000 heads of government, world energy leaders and industry professionals to assess the collective measures being put in place to accelerate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the virtual conference will take place from 9 to 12 November and will feature over 135 sessions, 700 renowned speakers and 115 technical sessions. The aim is to provide a platform for intellectual leadership around the future of oil and gas.

Confirmed speakers include Sultan bin Ahmed al-Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC Group; Suhail bin Mohammed al-Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, OPEC Secretary General; Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum; Patrick Pouyanné, President and CEO of Total; Bernard Looney, CEO of BP; Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni; Takayuki Ueda, Chairman and CEO of INPEX Corporation; Mario Mehren, CEO of Wintershall DEA; Philippe Boisseau, CEO of CEPSA; Meg Gentle, President and CEO of Tellurian; and Hajime Wakuda, President of Japan's National Oil, Gas and Metals Corporation.

During the ADIPEC Virtual Conference, participants will focus on how the energy sector is responding and adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the context of the complex trends and dynamics that have impacted global markets, they will also provide new perspectives on how the industry can build future resilience and engage with the challenges and opportunities of energy transition.

ADIPEC's President, Omar Suwaina al-Suwaida, speaking to the Emirates' state news agency WAM said: "Despite facing unprecedented challenges in 2020, our industry has demonstrated remarkable flexibility, commitment and resilience in responding to adverse market conditions and global energy demand; I am confident that ADIPEC will provide many new opportunities for collaboration and innovation as we respond to the new realities in world markets".

The ADIPEC Virtual Downstream extended technical conference will explore the role of artificial intelligence and digitalisation in refining and petrochemicals; decarbonisation; the future workforce; safety, efficiency and energy management; and the future impact on the circular economy.
