Emiratos reafirma su apoyo a la soberanía de Marruecos sobre la región del Sáhara

Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, has reiterated the firm and principled position of the United Arab Emirates in support of the sovereignty of the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco over the entire region of the Moroccan Sahara, including all measures the Kingdom is taking in defense of its territorial integrity and its citizens. 

The statements came as Sheikh Abdullah addressed the ministerial video conference co-hosted by the United States and the Kingdom of Morocco on support for Morocco's autonomy proposal for the Moroccan Sahara. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita chaired the conference in the presence of David Schenker, assistant to the U.S. Secretary of State, along with several foreign ministers and senior officials from friendly and sister nations. 

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Morocco and the United States of America for their efforts in preparing and organizing this conference and for inviting the UAE to this meeting which, I hope, will achieve a positive outcome that supports Moroccan ambitions," Sheikh Abdullah said.  

"In this regard, I would like to reiterate the UAE's firm and principled position in support of the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco in all its international and regional affairs, including Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara region and all measures taken to defend its territorial integrity and the security of its citizens. 

Furthermore, the UAE supports Morocco's autonomy initiative in this regard. He added that the UAE opened its consulate in Laayoune in southern Morocco on November 4, 2020, in line with the vision adopted by the wise leadership of the UAE and as a result of the strong strategic and historical relations linking the two countries.
