Etihad Airways, the airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is a great help to the international cooperation initiative of the Gulf country to serve medical and food supplies to several countries in the face of the COVID-19 health crisis that is hitting the world and has left hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions of diagnosed cases across the globe. In collaboration with the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, it has already transported national government humanitarian aid to 54 different destinations.

Etihad Airways plays a key role in delivering this humanitarian assistance to more than 50 different locations around the world, transporting medical and food aid to support the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This represents the participation of the Emirate airline in more than half of the humanitarian cooperation operations arranged by the UAE in recent months.

Ahmed al-Qubaisi, Senior Vice President, Government, International and Communications, Etihad Aviation Group, highlighted the activity of the airline he represents: "It is a proud moment for the Etihad family to be alongside the UAE Government in supporting humanitarian medical missions in response to the global crisis of the coronavirus pandemic. We are honoured to have played our part in this achievement, as a testimony to the wise values of tolerance and giving taught to us by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan". "Etihad Airways has operated more than half of the humanitarian flights in the UAE and we would like to thank all the entities that have supported and facilitated this special project," said Ahmed al-Qubaisi.

Etihad Airways continues to transfer aid from the Emirates, and cooperates closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain relevant aviation permits using the company's extensive experience and its vast network of connections with relevant airport authorities around the world.

In its extensive international cooperation to assist countries in their fight against COVID-19, the Emirates has already provided support to one million medical professionals worldwide by sending more than 1,000 tons of personal protective equipment (PPE), medical supplies and foodstuffs. As the world's most active provider of foreign assistance to counter the coronavirus, the UAE has provided help in many geographical locations (up to 70 countries) without any impediment due to political, racial or religious reasons (in fact, the UAE has already helped a diplomatic rival in the Middle East, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on up to four occasions). The Emirates has provided assistance to world powers and also to nations with fewer resources, including China, the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, Iran, Pakistan, Brazil, Russia, Yemen and Afghanistan, among others.
