Dubai World Expo 2020 honours women for International Women's Day. It honours its female employees, from architects to designers, including the women workers and general commissioners who help coordinate, plan, build and deliver the next Expo.

Women make up 52% of the Expo Dubai 2020 team, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Director General and Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem al-Hashemy. Expo Dubai 2020 has brought all women together for a photograph that keeps social distances to celebrate the diverse talent to deliver the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Women are an essential part of the Expo team in charge of 182 days of experience that will inspire, educate and entertain every visitor.

In addition, 38 of the international participants are represented by women general commissioners. A statement from the Expo notes that "visually striking, intellectually enlightening and emotionally inspiring" country pavilions, including those of Australia, Oman, the United Kingdom and Sudan, have been designed by female architects.

The experience will attract more than 200 participating countries as well as multilateral organisations. Businesses and educational establishments will also attend. Expo 2020 will provide an opportunity to showcase the Emirati values of inclusion, mutual respect, innovation and cooperation.

Of particular note is the inclusivity and dynamics of the Expo staff, which includes women of 62 nationalities. From women from Latin American countries, to Australians, Canadians, Italians, Americans and many more.

To highlight the employability of young women, 59% of the women are 35 years old or younger. Therefore, many of the programmes are designed to inspire the next generation to explore, create and learn.

Moreover, in addition to celebrating International Women's Day, themes such as women's equality, inclusion and the essential role women play in society will be included throughout the six months of Expo.

From 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, Expo Dubai 2020 will bring together strong leaders and influential policy makers, participants and the public to witness real stories of women who have led the way and encouraged diversity. Seeking solutions and ideas to build a better, equitable and just world for everyone.
