As was the case with the United Arab Emirates, for example, a commercial flight was chosen as a gesture inaugurating the new relationship between the country of Alaoui and Israel. According to official sources, a plane belonging to the Israeli company El Al will depart from Ben Gurion International Airport, near Tel Aviv, on a flight that will last six hours to the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

On this first flight, delegations from both countries, the United States and Israel, will travel in order to formalise the gesture. On the US side, the White House's chief advisor, Jared Kushner, will travel to Morocco, as well as the special envoy to the Middle East, Avi Berkowitz. On the Israeli side, the delegation will be headed by the National Security Adviser, Meir Ben Shabat. The teams of representatives are similar to those involved in the normalisation of relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Israel has not skimped on the details. Flight LY555 will be operated by an El Al aircraft with the word peace written on its fuselage in English, Hebrew and Arabic. In addition to the word and the flags of the three countries involved in the agreement, the plane will have a drawing of a Fatima Hand, or Jamsa, a protective symbol of Arab culture.

The American delegation will arrive in Israel today and will take advantage of the day to hold meetings with senior Israeli officials.

Morocco is the fourth country after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan to normalise relations recently with Israel. Donald Trump announced several months ago that at least five countries would be in a position to take this step, and it will therefore be necessary to wait to see which other country would be, if the information is confirmed. The possible candidates are believed to include Oman and Saudi Arabia, although the latter has denied any movement in this respect.

Rabat has been maintaining discreet contacts with Israel for years, including purchases of military equipment through other countries. The relationship that had been good during the nineties cooled down at the beginning of the 2000's, though some progress had been made in recent years and is now being consolidated with the agreement announced a few days ago.
