The Frenchman's departure from Real Madrid is confirmed and the Italian centre-back has still not renewed his contract with Juve

Goodbye Raphael Varane, hello Giorgio Chiellini?

The departure of Real Madrid's magnificent centre-back Raphael Varane has been confirmed. He has been transferred to Manchester United. Despite only having one year left on his contract, the 50 million Real Madrid will only be useful if Mbappé or Haaland arrives. Otherwise it will weaken the team.

While it is true that in the last two years his level has not been outstanding, his record and the results of the French international are there.

The game against City two years ago penalised him and gave arguments to the few detractors Raphael had at the Bernabeu.

The player, faced with his last contract, wanted to secure his financial future and also to recover part of what he believed he deserved and was not given when he won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

As I said before, the team is greatly weakened by his departure. I hope the 50 million is necessary because Kylian Mbappé arrives at the Bernabéu soon. Or alternatively Erling Haaland does. If not, the deal will be ruinous.

Varane is a great player and the proof is that United have paid 50 million. This is not the case with Ceballos, Isco, Asensio, Jovic, Hazard, Mariano and some others, who no club has shown interest in their services.

Florentino, this year there will already be an audience and if you don't get the fans excited, the boos could be a real blowout.

A pandemic has passed and the economy is as it is, but several years ago no signings were made and the fans are quite bored of seeing the same players and trembling when a starter gets injured. Now we have one less, with Ramos two first-choice players jumping ship.

An alternative for the defence could be the very experienced Giorgio Chiellini. He is free and Juve, in my opinion, are despising him by not renewing him. He was the best defender at the last European Championship where the Azzurri were crowned champions thanks in large part to him.

It would be an investment in a player with experience and quality. At Madrid we already have the experience of Benzema, Modric and others who have shown that the identity card does not play the games and professionalism does.

He is not a player of the future, but he would buy us time to sign players who have contracts with other clubs. It would be a continuation of Florentino's policy of not paying transfers.

Of course, it wouldn't be a signing to get our hopes up, but it would be a complement to the signing of Mbappé and Haaland. Varane's departure would bring in a significant amount of money to pay for these signings. Other players who in theory have a high cache do not count for the team and no offers are being received.

Chiellini would have no transfer fee and would surely be excited to play for Real Madrid. It would be a cheap operation.

We have to wait for the "calm" of the white president when asked about the signing of Kylian Mbappé.

At the very least Mbappé or Haaland will be at the Bernabéu this year and the Italian captain would be an ideal complement to the departing Varane and Ramos.

The youngsters at Castilla could learn a lot from him. Some could also take note of his professionalism.

It's complicated, Allegri has said that Giorgio will renew soon, but it would be fun to bring in Chiellini, but of course if Mbappé or Haaland come first.... or all of them.
