The National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe) has launched a new edition of the International Cybersecurity Ventures Acceleration Program, in its aim to promote a cybersecurity industry to increase digital confidence.

This is an initiative that began in 2017 and aims to encourage the development of new technology-based companies in the field of cybersecurity and facilitate the growth of recently created companies by supporting entrepreneurs in the maturation of their business projects.

In order to carry out this project, Incibe has the collaboration of the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE), an entity attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Regional Government of Castilla y León; and the Leonese Institute for Economic Development, Training and Employment (ILDEFE), dependent on the City Council of León, through an agreement which has been extended until 31 December 2021.

The International Acceleration Program 'Cybersecurity Ventures' offers intensive support to 10 startups to help them mature their businesses in order to attract investment and attract clients. To this end, training activities will be carried out in the form of training, individual and tailor-made mentoring and networking.

The programme will be open to newly established technology-based startups specialising in cyber security. The companies must be legal entities, micro-enterprises or SMEs, companies legally constituted in Spain, with less than five years of age and which have not distributed profits or arisen from a merger operation. All of them must present technological business projects that address the challenges of cyber security for society and the business fabric.

With regard to the activities of the acceleration programme, Cybersecurity Ventures will include an individualised analysis of each project and personalised training for each of the business ideas. This training will be complemented by other types of sessions, such as presentations of success stories and inspirational conferences given by promoters and investors.

The startups will also have a mentoring process, in which each project will have a mentor who will coordinate the support and guidance throughout the acceleration programme.

Within the programme, working or networking sessions will also be held with investors, business angels or potential clients both nationally and internationally.

Each of the selected startups that complete the definition phase of the individualized roadmap will receive financial support to promote their business projects. In addition, the three best companies selected by a professional jury, after presenting their projects at the Demo Day, will receive their corresponding economic amounts, as well as support in the form of a 'travel bag' to participate in events or activities within the framework of ICEX-Incibe actions. Selected companies may also be invited by Incibe to participate in events.

Interested companies can submit their proposals until 1 March 2021. The terms and conditions of this call and the annexes to be presented are available for consultation and downloading from the Programme website https://www.incibe.es/ventures
