The Director of the Instituto Cervantes, Luis García Montero, met this Thursday at the institution's headquarters with the Scottish Government's Minister for Constitution, Foreign Affairs and Culture, Angus Robertson, to make progress on the procedures for the forthcoming opening of an extension in Edinburgh, the Scottish capital.
This extension, which will depend on the centre in Manchester (England), will organise cultural activities related to Spain and the Spanish language, as well as training courses for teachers of Spanish, as agreed during García Montero's recent trip to Edinburgh.
García Montero proposed to him to collaborate in order to make Spanish culture more present in the UK, and Robertson offered to speed up the procedures for this opening, as "Scotland is still a European country and language teaching is a priority for us".
