During the first six months of the year, the "la Caixa" Foundation's Incorpora socio-occupational integration programme has provided 20,213 jobs for people in vulnerable situations, 9.4% more than in the same period last year. This has been possible thanks to the collaboration of 8,859 companies in this social responsibility project. It has also helped to promote 810 new small businesses led by people at risk of social exclusion with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Through 407 social entities, 57,237 people at risk of vulnerability were assisted in 2022: people with disabilities, young people at risk of exclusion, victims of gender violence, the long-term unemployed and people deprived of their liberty, among others. All this, thanks to a network of technicians who offer essential personalised attention and continuous monitoring of the participants before, during and after their employment.

Of the total number of insertions achieved, 10,998 have been women, and 9,215 men. In addition, 5,098 were people with disabilities and 15,115 were people at risk or in a situation of exclusion.

"Socio-occupational integration is a key tool for progress. Thanks to the networking of committed entities and companies, thousands of people in situations of vulnerability manage to get ahead with a job that allows them to regain autonomy. Along these lines, and so that no one is left behind, we promote training that guarantees digitisation and facilitates employability in the digital era", highlighted the Deputy Director General of the "la Caixa" Foundation, Marc Simón.

These latest figures from the Incorpora programme reflect the recovery in sectors that suffered the consequences of the pandemic and are now once again generating employment. Particularly noteworthy are the logistics and commerce, hotel and catering, cleaning and social and healthcare sectors.

Training to bridge the digital divide

The new needs arising in the digital era have led to a transformation in the labour market, both for companies and customers. Failure to adapt to digitalisation today can be a barrier to social inclusion and can accentuate social differences and isolation.

Along these lines, in order to reduce the digital divide in the search for employment, the "la Caixa" Foundation and the Accenture Foundation have promoted the "Working in Digital" training programme to accompany people in vulnerable situations. Its aim is to promote digitalisation to favour their social inclusion and employability. In the first half of 2022, 6,195 people took part.

The training, given by different Incorpora technicians, allows them to access professions that require digital knowledge to handle new tools on a day-to-day basis: from the hotel and catering sector to the logistics sector. They work on aspects such as familiarisation with smartphones to find and keep a job; knowledge of the functionalities and possibilities of email, instant messaging applications and video calls; awareness of the digital footprint and privacy management in social networks; the benefits of written and oral digital communication through role-playing exercises, and awareness of digital transformation.

The training also helps them to improve skills such as flexibility (identifying resistance to change and the benefits of maintaining a positive attitude), relational skills (identifying a network of contacts on which they can rely on and push themselves forward) and teamwork (sharing knowledge and collaborating with other people in decision-making and conflict resolution).

Accompaniment, a fundamental pillar of the Incorpora programme

The Incorpora programme, which was launched in 2006, aims to accompany and train vulnerable people by recognising their potential and preparing them to enter the job market. To this end, it promotes the networking of social entities and the commitment and social responsibility of companies to include diversity in their workforces with the same objective: to improve people's lives.

Among the tasks carried out by the labour insertion technicians are the prospecting of companies, the monitoring of the training process of the beneficiary, the labour accompaniment of the inserted people, the advice to the contracting companies to facilitate the adjustment of the people to the characteristics of the positions and the promotion of the collaboration of new companies with the programme.

The programme develops different lines of work with the aim of accompanying and giving opportunities to the most vulnerable people. These include the promotion of self-employment to support entrepreneurial initiatives through the analysis and development of a business plan.
