The aim is to teach the history of our ancestors through stories, music and Mediterranean rhythms

Mediterranean Fridays: educational shows for children and young audiences at the Three Cultures Foundation

The Three Cultures Foundation of the Mediterranean presents a new series of shows aimed at schools, both in Primary and Secondary Education, with the aim of making the history of our ancestors known through stories, music and Mediterranean rhythms: the legends, lullabies, love songs and celebrations told and sung by the grandmothers of our great-great-grandmothers in a time of coexistence between Christians, Muslims and Jews.

The "Mediterranean Fridays" programme brings together different shows that include audiovisuals and didactic texts through which a journey through the enormous variety of stories, sounds and rhythms of Mediterranean culture is proposed by great artists and connoisseurs of the same.

In the shows, as well as learning about the different types of music, students will also be able to see and enjoy stringed and percussion instruments of Arab, Eastern, Sephardic and other Mediterranean origin, from the Egyptian daf to the Turkish tabla, the doholla, the riq, the tar and an innumerable collection of tambourines.

This programme of free shows for schoolchildren runs until 26 May. There will be two shows for each of them, one at 10:00h and the other at 12:00h.

Recommended ages range from 5 to 16 years old.
