Marruecos desarrolla la educación privada nacional
The Competition Council has revealed in a report the figures on the different types of education that exist in the Alawi country. The representatives of the Council have perceived the importance of private education in the nation, so they have surveyed the data in which it is found.
Firstly, the centres in which private education is provided reached a turnover of around 2 billion dirhams in 2018, according to the media outlet Rue20. There are a total of 6,283 private education institutions in Morocco, of which 6,299 are part of the government-approved national system, 54 of which are foreign-style; 32 of these establishments have a mode of study following the method taught in France, 11 in which Spanish is used, 5 with the American model, 4 with the British model and two in which the Belgian mode of education is taught. These types of schools have a total of more than one million pupils, mainly in the national systems, and 37,000 of them are in the schools with a foreign education model, which are located in the Kingdom itself.
This report also highlights the concentration of these places, which are mainly located in the regions of Casablanca-Sabat, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and Fez-Meknes, representing 60% of the education system. In this structure, the report states that 104,533 people work as employees, of whom 54,557 are teachers, 32,447 are in charge of transport, security and cleaning positions, and 17,529 work within education in the administrative and supervisory fields.
Morocco remains committed to education and its development and has signed an agreement with France to strengthen the field of education. The Moroccan Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, and Jean-Michel Blanquer, the French Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, met during the 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, during which they stressed the importance of improving the level of education.
According to the Moroccan minister's statements to MAP news agency, Benmoussa declared that "cooperation was agreed on a series of subjects related to quality in schools". "These are subjects related to the pedagogical dimension, to teacher training, and to the evaluation and mastery of learning and fundamental knowledge at different school levels," he said. According to Benmoussa, the objective is "to be able to create and define all the corrective actions that will improve results and support students in their progress towards mastering these fundamentals".
During this meeting in Paris, the two ministers shared the idea that the COVID-19 pandemic had had a major impact on students, as the necessary means were not available at the time and could have affected their learning. The two officials of their respective governments have pointed out the need to reduce such impacts for the future.
During the conference, organised by UNESCO, Benmoussa gave a speech in which he praised the efforts of the new government of the Maghreb country to deal with the coronavirus and how its consequences have been curbed, especially in the field of education.
