Marruecos: el Gobierno anuncia un decreto para flexibilizar los cambios en la educación universitaria

"Establishing bridges" between the different university degrees in the health sciences. This is one of the main objectives of the reform announced yesterday evening by the Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Abdellatif Miraoui (PAM). At the end of the Council of Ministers' meeting, the head of the universities portfolio presented the decree to the local media.

Alongside him, the government spokesman, Mustafa Baitas, added that the new decree will allow students to reorient themselves and change their studies without losing the achievements of their previous careers. It is the faculties of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy that are the subject of these changes, made with a view to the start of the academic year in September. It is one of the first measures taken by the Akhannouch government, just after the Moroccan government's summer holidays. 

According to information gathered by the MAP agency, the decree will also put into effect the diplomas issued by these faculties for the three branches of studies mentioned at the end of a four-semester course in the faculties. 

The decree also provides a solution for the 3000 Moroccan students who were pursuing their university education in Ukraine and who fled after the outbreak of war in February 2022. Back in Morocco, the situation of these young people remained suspended in the air, and the arrival of September began to raise concerns, until Thursday evening when Minister Miraoui announced his measures. 

According to the PAM minister, work is being done in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Embassy in Morocco, with the aim of ensuring that any training completed or pursued in Morocco is approved and validated by the Ukrainian university of origin. 

According to the Moroccan digital newspaper Medias24, of the 3,000 students from Ukraine, around 800 were studying medicine, 645 dental medicine and 622 pharmacy in the Eastern European country. Thanks to the new decree, they will be able to re-enrol in the Moroccan higher education system by providing sufficient documentation attesting to their academic progress in Ukraine. 

According to Minister Miraoui's announcement, entrance exams for the various categories of students will take place on 24 September. More detailed information is available on the website of the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education. 

The minister also added in his appearance that there would soon be news for students in other fields.
