Marruecos intercepta a 168 emigrantes subsaharianos en el Mediterráneo en dos días
The troops of the Royal Moroccan Navy intercepted 168 sub-Saharan migrants in different operations in the waters of its jurisdiction in the Mediterranean between the 9th and 10th of this month.
According to a military source to the official Moroccan agency, MAP, the arrested, whose nationalities were not revealed, were detained when they tried to reach the Spanish coast in inflatable boats, kayaks and jet skis.
The source added that these migrants were taken to different ports in the north of Morocco and put at the disposal of the competent authorities.
Morocco claims that in the first four months of this year it aborted the illegal departure of 10,300 migrants; in Spain, statistics from the Ministry of the Interior have recorded the irregular entry of 6,466 migrants by sea between 1 January and 15 June.
