Morocco and Israel are experiencing one of their best moments in terms of friendship and cooperation. The two countries have not stopped collaborating since the resumption of relations and are demonstrating this internationally through mutually beneficial agreements. Now, it seems that the ambitious projects between the two have been extended and the nations have signed a new memorandum of understanding to start exploiting the aeronautical industry sector.

The Kingdom has just formalised an agreement with the Hebrew company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), in which the two nations have expressed their willingness to start promoting this industrial sector. With this new pact, relations are becoming closer and economic cooperation is continuing. Both Morocco and Israel aim with this collaboration to innovate in the fields of investment and technology in the aviation sector.

Ryad Mezzour, Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, received the Chairman of the IAI Board of Directors, Amir Peretz, in Rabat. Also present at the meeting were the Director General of the Israeli brand, Boaz Levy, and the Ministry Delegate to the Head of Government, who is in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies in the Alaouite Kingdom.

The two countries then stated that this memorandum is part of the implementation of the Joint Declaration between Morocco and Israel, a treaty signed at the end of 2020. This has the mission of restoring relations between the two territories and, over time, it has been possible to see that what was promised is being fulfilled.

"It is an agreement that is symbolic and of capital importance for the development of our country's aeronautical industry, signed with a global industrial player," the Moroccan minister told the press. On the other hand, the IAI president noted that "I know the incredible potential that exists in Morocco, and this is only the beginning. Together we will form common teams that will transform our vision into reality".

Both the North African nation and the Israeli company have identified the great opportunities that each can offer to the aeronautical industry sector, and this was reflected in the signing of the collaboration document. From now on, as stated by the Moroccan state news agency MAPNews, which has had access to the signed points of the text, the two countries will collaborate closely on new projects. These will mainly be related to 3D printing, the manufacture of cabin interiors and aircraft engine parts, as well as aerostructures that will develop more modern and better aircraft than those that exist today.

They have also proposed the creation and construction of a research and development centre, as well as a centre to study engineering issues and the development of a network of local suppliers. IAI, the Israeli company, has agreed that this will be done through sourcing partnerships (a technique used by companies to identify and evaluate perfect candidates to carry out the required employment) with which they have signed agreements.

For the time being, Morocco has confirmed that these projects will be implemented mainly in some of the Kingdom's airports. These include Er-Rachidia, Tata, Buarfa (southeast) and Nouaceur (west). The Moroccan government adds that, if the proposals are successful, it does not rule out applying these ideas to other aviation terminals in the country.

Diplomacy between the two territories is increasingly being restored. After the Abraham Accords, signed in 2020 under US supervision and with a commitment to re-establish bilateral diplomatic relations, in just two years, the two countries have achieved unprecedented successes, moving from zero contact to a very good relationship. During this time, delegations have been seen visiting each other's countries respectively, as well as the return of embassies to the regions and economic agreements, mainly in the economic and defence fields
