Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Emirates Airlines have just formalised a code-share agreement that promises to benefit all those who use their services for travel. It is a new alliance based primarily on the expansion of flights operating on the direct route between Casablanca and the city of Dubai. This will allow the citizens of the two cities to travel between them without having to make any type of connection and with much more frequency. In addition, this agreement will also result in other flight and connection offers to 209 other destinations.

It is also intended to offer customers the best service during their flights as well as during their stay at the airport. The airlines will start implementing this new plan from the end of May, coinciding with the opening of the summer holiday season.

"This partnership will offer our passengers a wider choice of destinations, as well as a better customer experience through optimised connections and end-to-end check-in, with international airport assistance within the networks of both airlines," said Hamid Addou, CEO of RAM.

For the airlines, the main focus is to offer their passengers the best possible service and to do so, they want to improve every type of service. The new alliance will now offer Emirates customers some 17 Moroccan destinations. Likewise, when they arrive in Morocco and thanks to the geographic position of the Alawi country, they will now have quick access to 63 other destinations worldwide where RAM operates. This also includes destinations throughout Africa, something that was previously more difficult to achieve. In the case of RAM, travellers who choose the airline will now be able to visit more than 130 destinations connecting to Dubai via Emirates.

"The partnership helps us strengthen our network, giving passengers more choice and convenience as they continue their flights between the airlines. We look forward to further developing our relationship together to offer even greater benefits to our customers," said Adnan Kazim, chief commercial officer, Emirates Airlines.

With this alliance, the two airlines will mutually benefit from each other. This agreement serves to complement their network of destinations. On the one hand, Emirates will have access to several cities in Africa where it did not operate before. These connections will extend to 25 points in the south, north, east and west of the continent. Meanwhile, RAM will be able to organise flights to more than 60 cities in the Middle East, some in the United States and as far afield as Asia.

"The partnership with Royal Air Maroc, by sharing the same code, provides our customers with a wide range of destinations within Morocco and a wide range of points across the African continent," continued Kazim.

It is worth noting that this new partnership between the two airlines coincides with the celebration of 20 years of Emirates' operations in Morocco. For two decades, the multinational has been serving the city of Casablanca. Currently, the brand operates eight flights a week connecting this Moroccan city with Dubai. For its part, RAM will begin operating more frequent flights between Dubai and Casablanca. From the end of May, the aim is to increase the frequency to four flights a week.

"Since 2002, Emirates has carried more than 3.4 million passengers between Dubai and Casablanca, supporting the country's tourism industry, growing trade routes and bringing Moroccan culture and traditions to the world," Emirates said in an official statement announcing the new partnership.

By the end of May, customers will begin to benefit from this commercial cooperation. The two airlines will promote their trips on their websites and in their commercial agencies. To attract more customers, they will also start providing their services through traditional travel agencies and some online sales platforms.
