The Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc has planned a new direct air route between Casablanca and Dubai which will start operating on 28 March 2021.

The national airline Alaouite will provide its customers with three frequencies per week. Flights from Casablanca will be operated every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with a flight time of seven and a half hours.

Take-off will be scheduled at 20:05 (Morocco time) and arrival in Dubai will be set at 06:35 (local time). Flights from Dubai will be scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with a flight time of eight hours. Flights will take off at 08:35 (local time) and arrive in Casablanca at 13:35.

The flights will be carried out by Boeing 787 Dreamliner type aircraft, a latest generation aircraft, efficient and ecological, offering excellent comfort and safety.

This new air route meets the expectations of the Moroccan community established in the United Arab Emirates, as well as all tourists and business travellers from Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

This continues to strengthen the strong relationship between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Morocco. It has been greatly enhanced in recent times, particularly with the Gulf country's explicit and total support for the Alaouite nation with respect to Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. This support was further enhanced by the opening of the Emirate Consulate in El Aaiun in early November.

The Emirates thus became the first non-African Arab country to open a consulate in the southern provinces of the kingdom, joining the 15 African countries that have already opened diplomatic representations in the two main cities of the Moroccan Sahara: El Aaiun and Dakhla, in less than a year.

All these gestures are not casual; they are a continuation of the solid historical relations whose foundations were laid by the late King Hassan II and Prince Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan for over three decades. They are now being continued under the reign of Mohammed VI in Morocco and the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, UAE's prime minister.
