Royal Air Maroc refuerza su operativa de vuelos con España
Since the reopening of borders and the resumption of traffic in Morocco during the 2022 summer season, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), in its quest to expand its borders, is gradually reinforcing its flight schedule. The event was attended by personalities including Morocco's ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, RAM's commercial director, Ilham Kazzani, and RAM's vice-president, Amine El Farissi.
The company will inaugurate a new route from Spain (Seville-Tangier-Casablanca) and will reopen three routes suspended since the health crisis caused by COVID-19, including destinations such as Tenerife, Oporto and Luanda.
The new air route linking Casablanca and Tangiers with Seville will meet the high demand of Spanish and Moroccan tourists, as well as Moroccans living in Spain and belonging to the diasporas. This line will be operational from 4 December with two frequencies per week, every Friday and Sunday. From 9 December, Morocco's national airline will re-establish direct flights from Casablanca to Oporto and Tenerife, which were suspended due to the pandemic.
Royal Air Maroc will resume the Casablanca-Tenerife route with two weekly frequencies, departing from Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport. The airline will also resume its connections with the Portuguese city of Oporto and between Casablanca and Luanda, capital of Angola, from 9 December. According to the airline's vice-president, the aim is to make Casablanca a "hub" for Africa with the rest of the world for a greater connection between different cultures, which would boost the Moroccan economy and bring Morocco closer to the Morocco of the future.
These advances of new routes, especially within the Mediterranean area, specifically with the Iberian Peninsula, is one of the development plans of the company as reported by the commercial director, Ilham Kazzini who alluded that in the future the Moroccan company hopes to expand its routes to North America via Washington DC, New York and Montreal, and the Middle East, with flights to cities such as Doha, Jeddah and Dubai.
The company, which last October inaugurated a new route connecting Marrakech with Paris, is currently expanding to such an extent that flight occupancy levels, according to RAM, are "quite high" and it has also been able to recover the level of frequency of flights prior to the pandemic. They also assert that they are mobilising to further consolidate their position in the main outbound tourism markets, such as Spain and France, in order to support each other and make Casablanca Airport a meeting place for a community that includes a network of 27 different destinations in Asia, Europe and Africa.
