The Royal Court accompanies Elizabeth II on the palace balcony salute
Several members of the British Royal Court, including Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine, appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to accompany Elizabeth II in the official salute, part of the official celebrations for her 70th year on the throne.
Wearing a sky-blue dress by designer Angela Kelly, with a matching shawl and baton in hand, the 96-year-old Queen greeted the crowds gathered outside the royal residence and on The Mall, which has been decorated with large flags of the United Kingdom.
The Royal Court was seen at the palace at the end of the military parade known as "Trooping the Colour", which marks the official birthday of the sovereign and, on this occasion, the start of four consecutive days of celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee.
Due to her walking problems, Elizabeth II did not follow this parade of British regiments, including the Royal Guard, on the parade ground of Horse Parade, the headquarters of the Horse Guards in central London, but saluted the military from the balcony of Buckingham Palace accompanied by her first Duke of Kent.
Also on the balcony were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children, Princes George, Charlotte and Louis.
As soon as she appeared in public, thousands of people could be heard shouting, today carrying the Union Jack flag - with its red, blue and white colours - on hats or pennants.
In the last year, especially after the death in 2021 of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, Elizabeth II has rarely been seen in public because of her mobility problems.
The colourful parade was attended by other members of the Royal Court, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and his wife, Carrie Johnson, as well as special guests.
