The architect and town planner Salvador Moreno Peralta inaugurates this Monday 25th October, at 19:00 hours in the Assembly Hall of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country, the Cycle of conferences 'Malaga, Spain and Latin America', which is the first activity of the Casa de América in Malaga.

The Economic Society of Friends of the Country is promoting this initiative as part of the Casa de América project in the city on the Costa del Sol, which aims to contribute to the promotion of relations between Malaga and Andalusia and Latin America, as well as with the Hispanic communities in the United States and Canada.

Salvador Moreno Peralta will speak on the cooperation programme of Spain and the Department of Public Works and Regional Planning of the Andalusian Regional Government in Latin American countries during the 80s and 90s of the last century. The architect and town planner from Malaga was the coordinator of the programme in Argentina, where he developed an intense and fruitful activity in the field of architectural and town planning cooperation, which is little known today.

In his talk he will analyse this important cooperation which, in addition to Argentina, extended to Chile, Ecuador, Cuba, Mexico and Uruguay, developed along three lines of action:

  1. Actions on historic centres with residential rehabilitation interventions that served to enhance the value of the built heritage.
  2. Actions to promote and disseminate the rich Latin American architectural heritage, making it known in Spain and Europe.
  3. Collaboration in the training of professionals and the transfer of knowledge.

Salvador Moreno Peralta's conference will undoubtedly contribute to the promotion of the Casa de América Project in Málaga, together with Spanish cooperation and collaboration in Latin America, which is so necessary for the historical and cultural role that Spain plays in these countries.
