Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed praised the UAE's efforts to tap into a new generation of talent after touring an Abu Dhabi high-flying firm that achieves "global excellence" in the aerospace sector. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces met with "young and talented" professionals from Strata, a major supplier of aircraft parts

The company, an aerospace manufacturing unit of Mubadala Investment, was established in 2009 through a strategic partnership with major aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing. Strata employs more than 700 professionals and is playing a key role in ensuring that young Emiratis can build successful careers. "During a visit to Strata, I met talented young people who are contributing to global excellence in aerospace," said Sheikh Mohammed. "This pioneering UAE initiative is at the heart of our ambition to invest in a diversified, knowledge-based economy led by a highly skilled workforce," he added.

Strata currently manufactures commercial aircraft parts and turboprops. Its customers include international aerospace giants Boeing, Airbus, Leonardo and Switzerland's Pilatus aircraft with billions of dollars in contracts. It is the largest producer of aircraft parts in the Gulf and a key anchor in the UAE's economic diversification efforts.

The company manufactures composite parts for fins on Airbus A380 and A330 aircraft, as well as Boeing 777, 777X and 787 Dreamliners. Last month, Mubadala announced a partnership with industrial firm Honeywell to produce N95 face masks at the Strata facility in Al Ain to boost the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic

The production line was set up to manufacture around 90,000 masks a day and have an annual production capacity of more than 30 million. "As a responsible investor, we have been working through our global portfolio with local and international organizations to collectively respond to the Covid-19 crisis," said Khaldoon Al Mubarak, group executive director and managing director of Mubadala.
