Spanish sellers' participation in AliExpress increases by 10% for World Shopping Day

In the last three years, Spain has been the second most important country in terms of cumulative GMV during 11.11 and the company expects more Spanish consumers to anticipate their Christmas shopping in 2021

On 11 and 12 November, AliExpress will celebrate 11.11, World Shopping Day, the most important event of the year for the company worldwide. In the 2021 edition, the number of Spanish retailers participating in the event will grow by 10% compared to last year. 

As retailers prepare for 48 hours of deals at this year's 11.11, customers will have the opportunity to enjoy more than 11,000 offers from Spanish retailers, an increase of 11% compared to last year's event. These are in addition to the thousands and thousands of offers from international vendors. The average number of offers provided by Spanish vendors has grown by 23.6% compared to 2020, as a result of the additional training and personalised advice that hundreds of vendors have received in preparation for the event. 

Based on preliminary vendor registration figures for the 2021 edition, the categories that are the most important in terms of the presence of Spanish-based vendors are Home & Garden, Consumer Electronics, Sports & Entertainment, Beauty & Health and Phones & Telecommunications. 

"Spain has been the second most important market in the world for AliExpress during the last three editions of 11.11 World Shopping Day. This is a testament to the popularity of our platform among Spaniards and their level of participation during the most important event of the year, which represents a great opportunity for all Spanish businesses and brands operating there," said Estela Ye, managing director of AliExpress in Spain, Italy and France. 

"During last year's edition, the increased participation of local sellers and the growth of locally sourced offerings were key elements in achieving these great results. In preparation for this year, we have earmarked more than €1 million in 2021 for training-related initiatives for small and medium-sized businesses in Spain, along with an extensive marketing campaign that aims to generate a significant boost in traffic during 11.11. We are convinced that this preparation will help businesses achieve great results during the event, and in many cases, the biggest day of the year for them in terms of sales," added Estela.

On 5 October, more than 1,000 sellers in Spain - including more than 300 who attended in person - attended the first AliExpress Seller Conference in Madrid. During the conference, local sellers had the opportunity to learn about the global event from AliExpress Global CEO Wang Mingqiang, as well as local innovations from William Wang, director for Spain, Italy and France. During the Vendor Conference, technical partners shared tips and best practices to get the most out of the event and AliExpress' Head of Marketing in Spain, Ignacio Zunzunegui, outlined the initiatives the platform will be undertaking at this year's edition to increase awareness of 11.11 and ultimately drive traffic to the platform during the event. 

In addition, hundreds of Spanish companies participated in more than 30 11.11-specific training sessions and webinars at the revamped AliExpress Learning Center, guiding them to get the most out of the event. 

During 11.11, World Shopping Day, customers in Spain will be able to find offers from well-known brands such as Xiaomi Spain, LEGO, Create Ikohs and Cecotec along with others such as My Tech, and of course small and medium-sized Spanish companies such as Allplayerz, Mayka Shoes or The Shop Gamer, among many others.
