Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club de Bilbao will play the tournament on Saudi Arabian soil after Christmas

The Spanish Super Cup will return to Arabia between January 13 and 16

The Federation (RFEF) has closed the program of the next Super Cup, which for the second consecutive time will return to Saudi Arabia.

The Final Four will be played in the Arab country between January 13 and 16. Wednesday 13 will be the first semifinal, the second will be played 24 hours later and the final of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday 16 of the same month, with which the two teams that play the semifinal on Thursday will have one less day of rest. In this next edition they will participate Real Madrid and Barcelona, as champion and runner-up in the League respectively, and Athletic and Real Sociedad, as finalists of the Copa del Rey.

The Super Cup will have to be played without the final of the Copa del Rey last season having been held yet due to the forced postponement due to the health crisis of the COVID-19. Therefore, Real Madrid, which according to the rules of the tournament should have the Cup runner-up as a rival in the first semifinal, could play against both Athletic and Real Sociedad, since both Basque teams will know their rival by drawing lots, as they have not been able to play the Cup final and it is not yet known who is the champion and who is the runner-up of the Cup trophy.

The contract signed by the RFEF with Saudi Arabia is for three years, for which it will enter 120 million euros. Half of this money is to be distributed among the participating clubs. A confidentiality agreement prevents revealing the exact figures that the clubs and the Federation will enter, according to the AS newspaper.

On the other hand, it is expected that the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia will see the public in the stands after the current restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
