The Three Cultures Foundation presents the book "What is Judaism?"

The Three Cultures Foundation considers it essential to highlight the value of the Jewish legacy in its cultural and historical dimension. In this effort to bring Judaism closer to the public, the Foundation will present the book "What is Judaism?", by Pedro Giménez de Aragón Sierra, at 18:30 on 7 March at its headquarters in Seville.

This is a book with an eminently informative character that addresses a question that is not as simple as it seems. Because Judaism is not only a religion (there are atheist Jews), nor an ethnic group (there are Sephardic Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, Falashas, etc.), but also a cultural concept.

The author investigates the evolution of Judaism with a historical and critical approach - while reflecting on its links with Christianity and Islam - in order to learn about (and bring closer to those who read the book) its past and present, in an effort to predict its future.

Pedro Giménez de Aragón Sierra holds a PhD in Ancient History from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, where he teaches History of Judaism on the Master's degree in Religious Studies. He has published numerous academic articles on Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity, and is the author of works such as "Qumran and the origins of Judeo-Christian political thought" and "History of Mediterranean religions".

At the presentation ceremony, the author will talk with Julio Azancot Yánez, honorary consul of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay in Seville.

Admission is free with prior registration on the Three Cultures Foundation website.
