This normalisation of ties follows the agreement also reached between Israel and the United Arab Emirates under the mediation of the United States

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Israel and Bahrain. The agreement comes a few weeks after the peace agreement reached by the Hebrew state with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "Opening direct dialogue and forming ties between these two dynamic societies with advanced economies will continue with the transformation of the Middle East", said the three nations involved in the agreement in an official communiqué on an understanding that sought to work towards regional peace and the solution of entrenched issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Thus, on Friday Donald Trump announced the "peace agreement" between Israel and Bahrain whereby the two countries have agreed to "establish full diplomatic relations".

"Another HISTORICAL achievement today! Our two BIG friends Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain have agreed on a Peace Accord - the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days," Trump said on his Twitter social network account.

Precisely, the top American leader will be hosting the White House next Tuesday to make official the signing of the previous treaty agreed by Israeli and emirate leaders and sponsored by Washington.

Mr Trump himself had anticipated the possibility of making an announcement of this kind at a press conference on Thursday. "They are going to hear from other countries in a relatively short period of time. There could be peace in the Middle East", the president stressed.

With the peace agreement between Bahrain and Israel, it seems that Donald Trump's policy continues to bear fruit, after the understanding reached between the Emirates and Israel and after the tour that Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, made of several Arab countries to gather support for diplomatic normalisation with Israel.

The small Gulf country had shown goodwill by authorising UAE planes to fly over its territory to and from Israel. "Bahrain will authorise flights from and to all countries from the United Arab Emirates to overfly its air space", the official Bahrain News Agency reported on Thursday 3 September, quoting an official source from the Bahraini Ministry of Transport.

Last week, the "first direct commercial flight" between the two countries, departing from Tel Aviv, landed in Abu Dhabi, in the Emirates; after having also flown over Saudi Arabia's airspace, which is very noteworthy bearing in mind that the Kingdom does not maintain official relations with Israel, although there is now speculation that it could also join the rapprochement.
