Venezuelan deputies in exile deliver report on 6D fraud to the Congress of Deputies

Spanish Congress of Deputies

On 6 December last, parliamentary elections were held in Venezuela to renew the National Assembly elected in 2015. The bulk of the opposition decided not to take part in them, except for a few minority parties and former members of some of the main political groupings, such as Acción Democrática and Voluntad Popular, who did so with their party's electoral card following the intervention of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which dismissed their directives and placed in charge members likely to turn up for the elections.

The deputies Ramón López, Winston Flores, Franco Casella, Auristela Castillo, Concepción Mulino and Eudoro González, Venezuelan parliamentarians in exile, yesterday handed over an observation report on the fraudulent elections of 6D to the representatives of the main Spanish political parties in the Congress of Deputies.

The three questions of the Consulta Popular are aimed, first, at rejecting the elections of 6 December; second, at calling for new transparent and guaranteed presidential and parliamentary elections; and third, at asking for the backing of the international community.

During the activity, the Venezuelan deputy Winston Flores, highlighted the importance of participating in the Popular Consultation that is being carried out worldwide, in digital form, from last Monday, December 7, until next Saturday, December 12, when more than 40 "points of freedom" will be activated throughout Spain. "Abstention alone is not enough to reject the Maduro regime. Last Sunday, abstention in the fraud was more than 80%, that is a clear rejection of the regime, but, in addition, the Popular Consultation has been activated, which is a strategy tool to achieve the exit of Nicolás Maduro," said Flores.

Héctor Gómez, the PSOE's international relations secretary, received the Venezuelan deputies, to whom he expressed his support in this struggle.

For the People's Party, Deputy Valentina Martínez Ferro, the Congress' foreign affairs spokeswoman, received the document, accompanied by several of her group colleagues, who once again expressed their solidarity with the democratic struggle for Venezuela's freedom.

For Citizens, Deputy Marta Martín attended, and said she fully understood the importance of the Popular Consultation and that Venezuelans should participate in it to reject Maduro's fraud.

Finally, the Venezuelan deputies invited their Spanish counterparts to accompany the Venezuelans in the closing of the process, next Saturday, December 12, at the points that will be set up in 16 autonomous regions and more than 40 cities throughout Spain.
