Once again, the Three Cultures Foundation joins the activities that will take place during the White Night in Seville by offering the public a concert of Mediterranean music with jazz fusions by the group Hispanistán. The audience will also enjoy the special lighting of our beautiful pavilion.

Hispanistán is the name of a group belonging to a generation of young people who arrived in Granada, from the cardinal points of the Mediterranean, ready to revolutionise the European ethnic jazz scene. They would do so by rescuing musical treasures submerged under the mare nostrum and returning them to the public transformed in a contemporary key.

The HISPANISTAN project offers a repertoire that revisits, reinterprets and arranges folk and traditional themes from the Balkans, Sephardic, Turkish, Spanish, Greek and Italian among others, as well as offering their own themes and current compositions. A varied repertoire that draws from traditional sources to create a musical universe that reflects the influences and current trends in their music. Elements of jazz and other modern music come together with tradition to create a unique meeting place.

The musical experience as well as their concerns and research into folklore, improvisation, communication and joint creation unite these musicians from different corners of the Mediterranean to develop and share a common musical language, with Granada as the setting.

The group is made up of José María Pedraza (Antequera, Málaga) on piano and keyboards; Alfredo Sarno (Napoli, Italy) on drums and percussion and Joaquín Sánchez (Almargen, Málaga) on clarinets, Bulgarian kaval, harmonicas and other winds.
