Arab Emirates sends fifth plane to Colombia with anti-Covid aid 19
The United Arab Emirates sent a fifth plane to Colombia on Friday carrying 13 tons of critical medical supplies to support the country's efforts to stop the spread of Covid 19, bringing to 53 tons the aid provided by the Emirate authorities to Colombians. The supplies carried on the Etihad Airways plane that left Abu Dhabi today will help approximately 13,000 medical professionals in their efforts to contain the virus.
The UAE Ambassador to Bogotá, Salem Rashid Al Owais, said that this fifth plane with aid responds to "the UAE's continued support to strengthen Colombia's health sector capacity to combat Covid 19. In this regard, Al Owais has stressed that, previously, "four aid planes carrying 40.7 tons of medical aid, including personal protective equipment and more than 200,000 test kits, directly benefited more than 40,000 health professionals in Colombia.
Fifth UAE-Colombia Airlift with Covid 19 Assistance
"The continuation of the UAE's airlift assistance operation to Colombia over the past five months is a testament to the determination of UAE leaders to support friendly countries in the exceptional circumstances the world now faces in combating the pandemic," he concluded.
To date, the UAE has responded to the Covid 19 crisis by providing more than 1,471 metric tons of aid to 118 countries, supplies that have strongly supported the work of approximately 1.5 million medical professionals.
