The Cervantes Institute participates in 'La Noche de los Libros' (The Night of Books)

The Cervantes Institute is taking part in the initiative 'La Noche de los Libros' (The Night of Books), a project of the Community of Madrid which involves a round table discussion between two prestigious writers who will talk about the ways in which the creative process can converge and how innovation draws on sources from the everyday, the past and the inner world.

Is it still possible to innovate today? There are those who simply decide to listen to the street and what they hear is new. Or those who assume a familiarity with an experimental tradition, and follow its inexhaustible course. And even those who defend a profound knowledge of the works of the past and find in them a paradoxical rejuvenating effect... Pilar Adón and Marta Sanz, two of today's most brilliant storytellers, will talk about their particular way of understanding writing as a space for exploration. Of knowledge of traditions, but also of discomfort in the face of them. Of love of literature, but also of suspicion of what it leaves out.

The headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid on Calle Alcalá will host this dialogue with both authors on 1 October from 19:00 as part of the Community of Madrid's 'La Noche de los Libros' programme. 

The event will also be broadcast in streaming on the Instituto Cervantes' live channel and YouTube channel.
