The Abraham Accords marked a turning point in relations between Israel and its Arab allies. One of the consequences of the historic memorandum is the Negev Forum, the third edition of which will take place in the Moroccan city of Dakhla. Although the exact date of the summit is not yet known, it is expected that, three months after the second, it will further strengthen ties that aim to consolidate an important regional alliance between Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Egypt and Bahrain, and, of course, the participation of the United States.

The aim of the meeting, which is expected to take place in January next year, will be to promote 'regional projects in the areas of regional security, food and water security, energy, health, education and tourism'. According to sources in the Alawi kingdom consulted by i24NOTICIAS, there will be an important novelty, namely the presence of the Palestinian Authority in the negotiations. According to the same sources, this is due to an explicit desire on the part of Moroccan diplomacy to continue advancing towards the normalisation of relations with as many regional actors as possible.

The first edition of the forum was limited to ratifying the intention of cooperation between all the members and showing the interests of each one, far from beginning to build bridges, which did begin to take shape at the second Néguez Forum held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. What they were clear from the outset is that both the fundamental idea of the Abraham Accords - even if this is not admitted by the signatories - and one of the priorities of this summit is to confront the threat posed by the Iranian regime.

However, as early as the second meeting four months ago in Bahrain, the formal objectives of the group were set, as well as the creation of up to six working groups on clean energy, education and coexistence, food security, health, regional security and tourism. The Director General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Alon Ushpiz, announced on that occasion that the intention was to organise this summit between two and three times a year, each chaired by a member of the forum in order to "promote initiatives that foster integration, cooperation and regional development for the benefit of the peoples of the region".

Ushpiz made it clear from the outset that "this is not a security forum, neither military nor directed against other countries (...), it is to strengthen cooperation, welfare and development in the region, and it is open to those who want to contribute". What also stood out at the second Negev Forum was the inclusion of "strengthening the Palestinian economy and improving the quality of life of Palestinians". This now takes on even greater significance with the Palestinian Authority's expected participation in the Dakhla forum.
