Iberdrola denounces an attempt to take over the world's second largest electricity company, destabilising the Spanish company through an unsuccessful attempt to discredit Ignacio Sánchez Galán.

According to Iberdrola sources, "we will not allow them to destabilise with lies, simply because they want to take it away from the shareholders. A Spanish flagship company, which has 400,000 direct and indirect jobs, which has just won a contract worth 22.5 billion euros in the United Kingdom and which is an example for the whole world".

Ignacio Sánchez Galán has finally managed to be received by Judge Manuel García-Castellón, after months of being asked to do so, in order to defend himself against the slander he is accused of and to denounce that it was Iberdrola that was spied on by a third party whose intentions are to take over the company owned by its almost 400,000 shareholders.

In Villarejo's recordings, a director of a company interested in acquiring the leading Spanish electricity company appears. And in Villarejo's diary he notes "spying on Galán". In his diary, Villarejo adds that the Kroll Agency has indicated to him that he can find information about Galán in the internal suitcases, given that they are not protected. Villarejo also notes Galán's movements after spying on him closely in Zamora.

Having proved that it was Galán who was spied on, the Court must investigate who was the client who hired Villarejo's proven spying on Galán. Villarejo notes his client's obsession with Ignacio Sánchez Galán. The recorded conversations, held by the Audiencia Nacional, which confirm the truth, should be made public.

Ignacio Galán strongly condemns the facts, both the espionage he has suffered, and in any case any criminal line in that sense.

Ignacio Sánchez Galán, presidente de Iberdrola

How did the events begin?

Iberdrola contracted with a legally constituted company, based in Torre Picasso, with 30 employees. Villarejo worked in that company. It is one of the 18,000 suppliers of the electricity company.

A false witness

José Antonio del Olmo, Iberdrola's controller, was the one who maintained a relationship with Villarejo. He made a false document in collusion with the notary Luis Ramallo and the ex-commissioner Marcos Peña. He stole documents from Iberdrola to give them to a media outlet.

False evidence

José Antonio del Olmo presented evidence that has been proven to be false and is convicted. Falsifications and theft for which he has been convicted. Recently a media has proved that he has 42 properties without being able to justify his increase in wealth.

Iberdrola did not allow spying on anyone

In Villarejo's unauthorised recordings of Iberdrola's head of security, Asenjo, Villarejo offers to spy on another businessman and Mr. Asenjo refuses to carry out such a criminal act.

Why investigate a time-barred offence if the expiry of the statute of limitations itself leads to an order to close the case?

The attempt to discredit Galán in order to destabilise Iberdrola and take it over has gone too far by trying to insist on an act that is also time-barred.

What responsibility does Galán bear?

None. He could not possibly have known in such detail about invoices and, much less, documents forged by José Antonio del Olmo, a proven forger of alleged evidence and a convicted thief.

Iberdrola was spied on

As we have said, it has been proven that the one spied on was... Iberdrola... in order to appropriate and discredit one of Spain's largest international companies.

In Villarejo's recordings, a director of an interested company appears.  And in Villarejo's diary he notes "spying on Galán".

Villarejo adds in his diary that the Kroll Agency has indicated to him that he can find information about Galán in the internal suitcases since they are not protected. Villarejo also notes Galán's movements after spying on him closely in Zamora. And Villarejo also notes the obsession of one of his clients with Ignacio Sánchez Galán.
