Vital Auto Parts announced this week in Rabat the signing of a partnership agreement with the international company Wallbox Chargers for the marketing of charging stations for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid cars in Morocco. To this end, a special department called "Vital Energy Morocco" was created to facilitate the transition of Moroccan drivers to electric cars and give them access to the best charging solutions. The aim of the decision is to promote the introduction of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles for more sustainable energy consumption and to develop an advanced network of smart charging points.

This progress in the competitiveness of the Moroccan automotive industry is partly related to the supply of green energy, which will be 30% cheaper than the current energy source. Vital Energy is also committed to providing full support to all future purchasers of the Wallbox solution at all key stages, i.e. presentation of the solution, installation and monitoring of consumption data via the mobile app. "Today, our ambitions are national. We support this vision and our strategy to develop renewable energies and create clean and electric mobility," Vital Energy's head of transport Younes Mellouk said in a press release. "We came to Morocco because of its location, but also because we thought the time was right," he added.

"We believe that 2023 will be the year of electric cars in Morocco, as there will be many new models this year and next," said Alejandro Criado, director of Commercial Engineering at Wallbox Chargers. By signing the partnership and working with world leaders in the field of charging stations, Vital Auto Parts is contributing to the creation of the national infrastructure that promotes the introduction of these new energy sources in the Moroccan automotive industry. The automotive industry is the second largest business sector in the country. By October 2022, sales reached $8.4 billion, and the Bank of Morocco forecasts revenues of $9.5 billion by the end of December.

An agreement has been reached between Vital Energy and Cherifian Automobile Center (importer of the Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda brands) to provide each new buyer of Audi electric cars with a Wallbox charging station. In addition, several golf courses such as Dar Essalam in Rabat and Casa Green Golf in Bouskoura have already installed Wallbox terminals, while several others will follow in 2023, including several hotel establishments. It should be noted that (Vital Energy), founded in 2022, is the energy department of "Vital Auto Parts" and a subsidiary of the Rabat (Audi) car dealership (Super Auto Distribution). Vital Energy is a leading brand in the development of smart charging solutions for more sustainable mobility.

Founded in 2015 and based in Barcelona, Wallbox Chargers is a New York-listed international company that creates smart charging systems that combine innovative technology with superior design. The company offers a wide range of charging and energy management solutions in more than 100 countries worldwide. Morocco is aiming to be one of the most sustainable and environmentally and climate change friendly countries. The Moroccan automotive industry expects to reach an annual production capacity of approximately one million electric cars in the coming years. To do so, it will need to secure the supply of batteries, which is essential for this type of vehicle.

"Made in Morocco" cars have become a major player in the country's economy. Thanks to its exponential growth over the years, this sector has managed to establish itself as the main exporter in the African market. The company is dedicated to changing the way the world uses energy. Wallbox creates advanced energy management and electric vehicle charging systems that redefine the relationship between users and the grid. While we know it's no easy task, we understand that innovation doesn't come by taking the easy route. That's why they see themselves as an "enthusiastic" company, ready to push the boundaries of what electric vehicle charging can achieve. As long as there are obstacles that inspire us, we will continue to design our own solutions to overcome them.
