The Raid Tanja Lagouira arrives in its 14th edition with a route between Madrid and Dakhla from 1 to 13 November, 13 exciting days that will mean a social and humanitarian adventure and a fantastic experience for the participating pilots. The event is organised by NORD SUD ACTION (Moroccan Association for Communication, Socio-Economic Development and Investment Incentives), in collaboration with the Moroccan Embassy in Spain and with the support of the Dakhla Rio Oued Eddahab region.

A new edition of the Raid Tanja Lagouira will take place from 1 to 13 November 2022. Explain to us what this Rally is all about.

The Raid Tanja Lagouira is back on the road. The event, which is in its fourteenth year, will start on 1 November from Madrid to the far south of Morocco in Dakhla in the Moroccan Sahara, in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Spain and with the support of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region. It is a 13-day journey, along 3900 km where adventure, discovery, but also solidarity and humanitarian actions are mixed.

It is a raid open to anyone in possession of a 4x4 vehicle. It takes place under the sign of solidarity, friendship, discovery and investment.

Madrid, Seville, Tangier, Marrakech, Guelmim, Laayoune, Dakhla, Tantan, Agadir are part of the itinerary. The landscapes crossed by the competition are impressive.... How was this route chosen and what can you tell us about it in depth?

Travelling to the southern provinces usually means travelling by plane because of the long distances involved. Today, frequent flights to Guelmim, Tantan, Laayoune and Dakhla provide almost daily connections, which are fast, comfortable, but not very pleasant.
We at NORD SUD ACTION (Moroccan Association for Communication, Socio-Economic Development and Investment Incentives) propose to join our provinces from the north to the south by joining the useful to the pleasant, by a 4x4 trip from Tangier to Dakhla, with a departure this year from Madrid in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Spain.

This year, the race takes place between Madrid and Dakhla. Why did you decide to start in the Spanish capital?

Since the first editions, we have always had participants from abroad, especially from Spain.

This year and on the occasion of the renewal of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Spain, the members of the NORD SUD ACTION Association, in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Spain, decided to kick off this 14th edition from Madrid, in order to support the implementation of the commitments and agreements signed by the two Kingdoms.

Riders pay a fee to participate. What are the benefits for the participants?

Through this Raid, participants will be able to :

  • Enjoy the landscapes, roads, dunes, paradisiacal beaches and oases of the Moroccan Sahara.
  • Discover the southern Moroccan provinces with all their wealth and investment potential, especially the city of Dakhla and its magnificent region.
  • Ride along the small sandy tracks on the edge of the ocean, including a trip to the legendary White Dune... guaranteed sensations!
  • Try your hand at board sports: kitesurfing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking...
  • Go out on quad bikes over the cliffs and sand dunes.
  • Go fishing or scuba diving... and sunbathe on the warm sand.
  • Support humanitarian and social actions, deployed throughout the route.
  • Participate in a tombola and win great prizes.

The safety of the competition is guaranteed. Is it not?

The Raid Tanja Lagouira is an exceptional adventure, offered to both experienced and novice competitors. The competition is not a speed race, but a journey of pleasure and discovery, with the primary goal of arriving safely.

Therefore, our well-equipped and well-trained staff is constantly on hand to take care of the participants, to avoid any inconvenience that may occur during the journey.

Rally Tanja-Lagouira

The competition has a very strong solidarity character. Can you explain to us what the social and humanitarian action of the Raid Tanja Lagouira consists of?

This trip is also open to anyone who is looking for thrills and noble emotions. Humanists, committed and patriotic, the "pilots" and their companions will bring their help to the regions that have been opened up and will get to know the populations of the other regions of Morocco better, with social and charitable actions programmed throughout the route (equipping rural schools with computer equipment, distributing clothes, creating commercial activities for the benefit of people with reduced mobility, etc.).

In addition, NORD SUD ACTION has chosen to support a number of associations by donating the financial resources it may receive at the end of the Raid Tanja Lagouira.

This sporting event is a great opportunity to invest in the southern provinces of Morocco. Is this not the case?

This raid also has an economic and professional component, through the discovery of business and investment opportunities in the three southern regions, namely: the Guelmim Es Smara region, the Laâyoune Boujdour Sakia El hamra region and the Oued Eddahab Lagouira region.

Interested participants will have the opportunity to meet the heads of the regional investment centres of the three southern regions, who will explain the assets and business opportunities that each region has to offer.

In November, the 14th edition of the Raid Tanja Lagouira will take place. Tell us a little about the history of this competition.

The Raid Tanja Lagouira, the biggest humanitarian and discovery Raid 100% Moroccan, was born from the will of the members of the Association NORD SUD ACTION with the aim of promoting Morocco as a destination for foreigners and to make the Moroccan Sahara destination better known to Moroccans.

Since its first editions, it has gathered more than 910 participants (Moroccans and foreigners) and more than 325 4x4 vehicles, covering more than 78,000 km.
In terms of solidarity, the Tanja Lagouira Raid has distributed more than 9200 kg of clothes to poor families, contributed to the creation of 45 income-generating activities for the benefit of people with reduced mobility and provided computer equipment to 8 rural schools.

Your association NORD SUD ACTION is in charge of organising the Raid Tanja Lagouira. Can you tell us a little more about the work of your company?

Based in Dakhla, Nord Sud Action, a non-profit association, was born in July 2007 from the passion and commitment of people who believe in the economic development of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region in particular and the Moroccan Sahara in general. Its objective is to communicate in a professional and modern way on the economic assets of the southern regions of the Kingdom and to facilitate access to projects for investors through the creation and implementation of various events: cultural and professional sports, which can contribute to the promotion of the southern destination and attract national and international investments.
