As the 2021 cycling season draws to a close, UAE Team Emirates has had a great season overall, with Slovenian star Tadej Pogacar, who this year became the youngest Tour de France champion in many decades and is the two-time winner of the Tour de France to have achieved this milestone at a younger age.
After several months of tough competition, the Emirates Cycling Team is starting a week-long training camp in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Monday, which will also serve to prepare for the upcoming 2022 season.
The team members will participate in two activities organised in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on 19 and 23 October while they are in Emirati territory. On this occasion, the team will have the opportunity to be present at the Dubai World Expo 2020 itself, which is currently taking place, as reported by Kooora media. The Dubai Expo is the first of its kind to be held in the MEASA area (Middle East, Africa and South Asia).
Mauro Gianetti, Team Emirates Director, said of the established Emirates programme: "After an incredible season in which Team Emirates has achieved so many successes and accomplishments, we are delighted to welcome the team's riders to the UAE; they will have the opportunity to meet their friends and team sponsors, and to celebrate their outstanding triumphs this year. "This is not surprising, as everyone celebrates the team on every visit and they receive public support wherever they go thanks to their positive impact on promoting cycling in the UAE," he added, in words picked up by Kooora.
"It is important for us to be here and communicate with all the people who contribute to the success of the team's journey," said Gianetti.
